RBA lifts cash rate to 4.60%, reinforcing hawkish bias
The Reserve Bank of Australia raised its cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.60% and indicated it could tighten further if inflation stays too high.
Deutsche Bank’s macro strategy team, cited by FXStreet, said the Reserve Bank of Australia lifted its cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.60%, matching market expectations.
FXStreet reported that the RBA said inflation is still too high and left the door open to additional tightening if needed, a stance Deutsche Bank characterized as reinforcing hawkish policy.
The note also pointed to a move in Australian bond yields, with Australia’s 10-year government bond yield around 5.4%, described as a post-2011 high.
