Uranium mining stocks rise after surge in uranium demand pledges

Sprott-linked uranium indexes gained through August 31, with the VettaFi Global Uranium Mining Index up 17.3% and the Nasdaq Sprott Junior Uranium Miners Index up 19.2%.

Uranium mining equities rallied late in August as uranium pricing improved and nuclear expansion pledges gained traction, according to insights cited by ETF Trends.

ETF product management director Jacob White at Sprott Asset Management said the VettaFi Global Uranium Mining Index rose 17.29% over one month as of August 31, 2026, while the Nasdaq Sprott Junior Uranium Miners Index climbed 19.20% over the same period.

White attributed the strength to advantageous spot and term pricing for uranium, and said momentum has continued into September tied to the World Nuclear Symposium and the typical uranium contracting season.

At the Symposium, White noted rhetoric shifted from verbal support toward the physical financing and fueling process, with 39 countries pledging to at least triple global nuclear capacity by 2050, a move he said could increase pressure on available uranium supplies and accelerate demand for new mining and processing projects.
