Base activates Cobalt upgrade with conditional and issuer controls
The upgrade expands Base’s B20 token standard to let issuers run multiple compliance checks and schedule changes for corporate actions like stock splits.
Cointelegraph reports that Base has activated its Cobalt upgrade, adding conditional transactions and new issuer controls for tokenized assets on the Ethereum layer-2 network.
The outlet says Cobalt allows traders to set transaction conditions, while giving issuers tools for compliance checks and operational controls. In the examples provided, issuers can require recipients to complete identity checks, qualify as accredited investors, and avoid addresses on a sanctions list.
According to Cointelegraph, Cobalt also expands Base’s B20 token standard so issuers can apply several compliance checks to the same asset and schedule adjustments for corporate actions such as stock splits.
The update is Base’s third major upgrade, arriving as the network deepens its push into onchain finance, Cointelegraph said.
