China cuts PBoC PSL rate and expands relending quotas

The targeted package includes a 25 basis point cut to the PBoC’s PSL rate and broader relending quotas tied to innovation, technology, agriculture, and small businesses.

Societe Generale analysts highlighted a new set of targeted support measures in China, including a 25 basis point cut to the PBoC’s PSL (relending) rate.

The measures also expand relending quotas for areas such as innovation, technology, agriculture, and small businesses, alongside mortgage subsidies for first-time buyers of smaller homes, according to FXStreet.

FXStreet also noted the immediate market reaction appeared limited, saying the steps failed to lift equities.

The commentary further pointed to FX positioning in Asia, with the Australian dollar holding near two-month lows around 0.6950 after data missed expectations, and USD/JPY trading with losses held below 157.00 amid a pause in the US dollar advance.
