EU faces MiCA review decision on balancing market protection and costs
The European Commission consultation on the MiCA review ends with policymakers weighing whether the bloc’s single crypto rulebook is supportive enough for builders.
Cointelegraph said the European Commission’s consultation on the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation review is nearing its close, putting the focus on how to refine MiCA going forward.
The outlet said MiCA, which came into force, created Europe’s first single coherent crypto rulebook, including authorization and passporting rules that let a crypto asset service provider approved in one member state serve clients across the European Union and the European Economic Area.
Cointelegraph added that the rulebook also enables clients across the bloc to choose among a growing number of licensed, supervised providers.
The piece frames the key tradeoff for Europe as protecting the crypto market without making compliance too costly for firms to build in the region.
