EUR/USD nudges higher after Germany retail sales come in below forecast

Germany’s retail sales rose 1.3% month on month in August, versus a 2.0% forecast, after a 3.4% decline in July.

German retail sales provided a modest lift to the euro in August, but the outcome still undershot expectations, according to data released by Destatis and summarized by FXStreet.

Retail sales rose 1.3% month on month in August, compared with a 2.0% increase expected by analysts, after contracting 3.4% in July.

On an annualized basis, retail sales fell 0.4% in August compared with the prior release showing a 2.5% drop.

Following the release, FXStreet said the Euro edged slightly higher, with EUR/USD up 0.07% on the day at 1.1348.
