Hyperliquid co-founder says 24/7 trading is not blockchain finance’s edge

Jeff Yan said crypto does not require set market hours because it is inherently international, contrasting with how traditional exchanges operate.

Hyperliquid (HYPE) co-founder Jeff Yan said at Korea Blockchain Week that around-the-clock trading is not the real differentiator for onchain finance versus traditional exchanges, according to The Block.

In a fireside chat at Korea Blockchain Week 2026, Yan argued crypto has never depended on conventional market hours because the asset class is inherently international.

Yan’s comments were framed as an alternative view of what makes crypto venues distinct, placing emphasis on the cross-border nature of the market rather than the ability to trade 24 hours a day.
