Robinhood adds weekend trading for select US stocks and ETFs
The update enables 24/7 trading on weekends in select US stocks and ETFs, following weekday round-the-clock access launched in 2023.
Robinhood said it will let users trade select US stocks around the clock on weekends, expanding its round-the-clock trading beyond weekdays. The brokerage is rolling out weekend transactions as part of an industry shift toward longer trading hours, with US exchanges traditionally open from 9:30 am to 4 pm on weekdays.
Robinhood said Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange, and 24X National Exchange are planning longer sessions of up to 23 hours a day, five days a week, in coming months, including a planned Nasdaq trading window from 9 pm to 4 am.
The platform noted that since launching weekday round-the-clock trading in 2023, about 25% of its total daily trading volume on busy days came from that feature, and it is now extending the access to weekends for the first time.
