Trump signs executive order requiring AI be called Super Intelligence

BBC Business reports President Donald Trump hosted a closed-door meeting with top technology bosses on Tuesday, bringing together leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, Meta and Google.

After the meeting, Trump said the executives signed a document he described as morally binding and framed it as protection against potential AI risks, and he took questions from reporters for about 30 minutes alongside House Speaker Mike Johnson and top tech leaders.

Under the agreement described by BBC Business, the companies are responsible for ensuring the safety of their own technology, and they also agreed to implement safeguards to keep models operating as intended and to quickly detect and fix any issues.

BBC Business adds that Trump posted the accord and signed an executive order requiring his government to refer to AI as Super Intelligence.
