UK GDP growth revised higher for April-June quarter
The revision also comes as Britain prepares for diesel prices nearing £2 a litre for the first time, and Bank of England warnings about rising risks since July.
The Guardian reports the UK economy grew faster than initially estimated in the April to June quarter, after GDP was revised higher. The update positions the UK as the fastest-growing G7 economy so far this year, despite disruption tied to the Iran war.
The outlet also points to market and economic items in its live business coverage, including a shift in UK growth expectations seen by a rally in UK gilts after the growth surprise. Zoopla data cited in the same coverage shows house sales down 9% in September.
The coverage further flags energy cost pressure, noting Great Britain energy bills are forecast to jump by £276 a year from January. It also highlights a warning from the Bank of England that risks facing the UK economy have risen since July.
