AIG names Turab Hussain as chief risk officer effective Oct. 12, 2026
Hussain, currently AIG’s Global Chief Actuary since 2023, will succeed Christopher Schaper, who plans to retire at the end of 2026.
American International Group has appointed Turab Hussain as executive vice president and chief risk officer, effective October 12, 2026, with the move based at AIG’s New York headquarters. Reinsurance News reports that Hussain will succeed current CRO Christopher Schaper, who intends to retire from the company at the end of the year.
AIG said Hussain will report to Eric Andersen, President and Chief Executive Officer, and will serve on the company’s executive leadership team. According to Reinsurance News, Hussain has served as AIG’s Global Chief Actuary since 2023, overseeing pricing, reserving, and other actuarial activities across the insurer.
The article also notes that Hussain joined AIG in 2021 as chief risk officer for general insurance, after previously holding risk and actuarial roles at Partner Re, and earlier positions at Arch Insurance, The Hartford, American Re, and Reliance Insurance.
AIG CEO Eric Andersen said Hussain is an experienced leader with deep technical expertise and a collaborative approach, citing his actuarial and prior risk leadership experience within the company, as described by Reinsurance News.
