HIVE Underwriters appoints Richard Brown to lead global property D&F push

Brown, who has more than three decades of UK and international property insurance experience, will form a team to build HIVE’s global Property Direct & Facultative portfolio.

Independent specialty managing general agent HIVE Underwriters has appointed Richard Brown as Head of Property to lead the launch of its global Property Direct & Facultative, or D&F, business.

According to Reinsurance News, the new portfolio is intended to support HIVE’s long term goal of expanding its underwriting capabilities across global specialty markets, with Brown tasked to develop a dedicated team focused on writing the property D&F class.

The company said the effort will build on its specialist underwriting expertise, advanced analytics and proprietary technology, with an emphasis on disciplined risk selection, long term partnerships, and sustainable portfolio performance.

Reinsurance News also noted that Brown has more than three decades of experience in UK and international property insurance, most recently serving as Head of UK and International Property for Sompo.
