Australian dollar rises versus US dollar ahead of US jobs data
The AUD was up 0.17% near 0.6640, after the RBA lifted rates 25 bps to 4.6% this week.
The Australian dollar edged higher against the US dollar in European trading, up 0.17% to about 0.6640, as reported by FXStreet.
FXStreet said the move came even as some market experts expressed doubt about further Reserve Bank of Australia interest rate hikes, pointing to Governor Michele Bullock keeping the door open but suggesting less urgency for additional tightening.
The outlet added that the RBA raised rates by 25 basis points to 4.6% this week, which contributed to the AUD’s relative strength into the period ahead of US NFP data.
FXStreet also noted that the Australian dollar was the strongest against the Canadian dollar among listed major currency moves at the time of writing.
