Bitcoin mining infrastructure could become AI data centers, says HIVE chair

Frank Holmes, executive chairman of HIVE Digital Technologies, argues that miners already have power, land, and substations, and that repurposed GPUs helped drive HIVE into AI.

Bitcoin Magazine features HIVE Digital Technologies executive chairman Frank Holmes, who argues that Bitcoin mining infrastructure can support the buildout of AI data centers.

He says miners already possess key assets AI developers need, including power, land, and substations, and he describes Bitcoin mining as a “tier one” data center.

Holmes also ties HIVE’s AI push to legacy hardware, saying GPUs that once mined Ethereum led the company into AI.

He further claims the next wave of AI factories could be built on mining infrastructure across locations including Paraguay and Canada, framing mining sites as an enabling base for AI expansion.
