Circle urges EU to change stablecoin bank-deposit rules

Circle, the USDC issuer, also asked the EU to preserve cross-border co-issuance and add a path to recognize foreign stablecoins.

Circle is urging the European Union to replace bank-deposit mandates for stablecoins, arguing for a different regulatory approach, according to The Defiant.

The USDC issuer also said it wants to preserve cross-border co-issuance of stablecoins and create a recognition route for foreign stablecoins.

The request comes as central banks continue to demand stronger safeguards for stablecoin issuance and use.
