Core Lightning urges Bitcoin Lightning node operators to upgrade

Operators running Core Lightning versions 26.06.7 or earlier were told to update to the latest release as soon as possible after reports of attacks on unpatched nodes.

Cointelegraph reports that the team behind Core Lightning, an open source node software for the Bitcoin Lightning Network, urged operators running older versions to upgrade immediately after it received reports of attackers targeting unpatched nodes.

In a security message, Core Lightning said node operators on version 26.06.7 or earlier should move to the latest release as soon as possible, warning of an urgent need to patch.

Core Lightning did not specify which vulnerabilities were being targeted, nor did it describe the potential impact of the reported attacks.

The outlet also noted that Core Lightning previously said on Sept. 16 that it was investigating reports of a potential issue involving experimental features.
