Eurozone September inflation beats estimates as HICP rises 3.8% YoY
Core HICP accelerated to 2.5% YoY, and EUR/USD edged up about 0.1% to around 1.1250 after the data.
Eurozone preliminary inflation data showed the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, or HICP, rising 3.8% year-on-year in September, which exceeded the 3.6% estimate and followed August’s 3.2% final reading, according to FXStreet.
On a month-on-month basis, the report said HICP increased 0.6% in September versus 0.4% in the prior release. Core HICP, which excludes volatile components including food, energy, alcohol, and tobacco, rose 2.5% YoY, up from 2.4%, and month-on-month core HICP grew 0.2%.
After the release, FXStreet said there was no significant movement in the euro, while EUR/USD was up about 0.1% and trading near 1.1250.
