Gold edges higher as risk-off sentiment and Europe stress rise
The move came as volatility ticked up and investors weighed geopolitical risks alongside changing central bank expectations ahead of major US and euro area data releases.
Deutsche Bank commentary highlighted that gold prices edged higher as markets shifted to a broader risk-off stance and financial stress increased in Europe, according to FXStreet.
FXStreet said the report tied gold’s gains to rising volatility as investors digested geopolitical risks and shifting central bank expectations ahead of key upcoming US and euro area data releases.
In the same FXStreet package, it also noted other currency moves, including the US dollar retreating from 17-month highs as traders took profits ahead of the US nonfarm payrolls report.
