Gold holds modest gains near $4,183 as dollar and yields retreat
XAU/USD is up 0.28% on the day near $4,183, while the 10-year Treasury yield drops below 5.2% after easing from its recent peak.
Gold is trading higher modestly in European hours, supported by a pullback in the US Dollar and US Treasury yields, FXStreet reported. At the time of writing, XAU/USD is around $4,183, up 0.28% on the day.
The US Dollar Index is near 102.29 after hitting 102.61 on Monday, its highest since April 2025, according to FXStreet. Treasury yields are declining across the curve, with the benchmark 10-year yield slipping below 5.2% after moving away from last week’s peak of 5.36%, its highest since 2002.
Despite the tailwind from softer dollar and yields, gold is capped below $4,200, FXStreet said, noting buyers remain cautious under the broader fundamental backdrop. The outlet cited energy-driven inflation risks tied to Middle East tensions and expectations that the Federal Reserve may need to keep interest rates higher for longer, adding that Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack said on Monday she prefers smaller interest-rate adjustments but left the pace uncertain.
