Lula says Brazil should stop shipping raw critical minerals ore

Lula framed China and the United States as potential technology partners for processing minerals inside Brazil.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Brazil should stop shipping out raw ore as part of its critical minerals plans, telling the podcast Flow that the country wants to transform the materials within Brazil.

Lula said China could be a partner by bringing technology, and he also pointed to the United States as another potential technology contributor.

His comments came three days before Sunday’s closely fought election, according to SCMP Economy.

Lula noted that Brazil has the world’s second-largest rare earth reserves after China, while both Washington and Beijing are seeking supplies outside Chinese control.
