Peter Todd becomes lead maintainer of MARA Foundation's Slipstream
Slipstream routes transactions directly to MARA Pool without using Bitcoin's public peer-to-peer network, keeping details private until confirmation.
Bitcoin O.G. Peter Todd has joined the MARA Foundation as lead maintainer of Slipstream, the miner’s private Bitcoin mempool service, according to Bitcoin Magazine.
The foundation said Todd will be responsible for developing and running Slipstream. The service allows users to send Bitcoin transactions straight to MARA Pool without going through Bitcoin's public peer-to-peer network.
Bitcoin Magazine also noted Slipstream was designed to help after hackers exploited Coldcard hardware wallets in July, stealing over $115 million in user funds.
Because transactions sent through Slipstream remain private until they are confirmed in a block, the service is intended to help hide key information, including exposure of public keys, before confirmation.
