RealFi launches yield stablecoins on Cardano, splitting retail and issuer exits

RealFi launched USDrf and sUSDrf on Oct. 1, with direct minting and redemption reserved for verified institutional partners.

RealFi has launched Cardano-based stablecoin products designed to connect on-chain users with credit, rolling out USDrf and its yield-bearing counterpart sUSDrf on Oct. 1, according to CryptoSlate. The project frames the system as a bridge between blockchain finance and lending in emerging markets, with returns generated from an underlying portfolio rather than primarily from token incentives.

CryptoSlate reports that eligible retail users can acquire USDrf and stake it for sUSDrf, which provides variable returns tied to the portfolio. In contrast, direct minting and redemption with the issuer is reserved for verified institutional partners, creating different exit rights depending on who holds the tokens.

CryptoSlate also notes that the launch comes as Cardano’s stablecoin base is expanding toward a record level, even as its DeFi activity has declined sharply. The article says Charles Hoskinson discussed earlier investment by him into RealFi and described the team as having serviced loans in Kenya and Uganda while building the platform with limited public visibility.
