U.S. employment report shows jobs gain slows to 29,000 in September

The unemployment rate rose to 4.2% from 4.1% in the September report, against expectations for 84,000 payroll gains.

The U.S. labor market showed signs of cooling in September, with nonfarm payrolls increasing by only 29,000 jobs, according to CNBC Markets, far below the 84,000 expected increase.

CNBC Markets also reported that the unemployment rate edged up to 4.2% from 4.1%.

Bitcoin was supported earlier after the employment data release, with CoinDesk reporting it was up more than 2% over the prior 24 hours and trading just below $87,000.
