U.S. says deal with India is not imminent after Modi-Trump call

The U.S. warned New Delhi faces a fresh risk of up to 100.0% tariffs tied to ongoing Russian oil purchases.

CNBC Markets reports that the U.S. trade representative, Greer, said a deal with India is not imminent following a call between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump.

According to CNBC World, U.S.-India ties have been under strain for more than a year, as India faces fresh risk of up to 100.0% tariffs for continuing to buy Russian oil.
