UK diesel average tops £2 a litre as fuel costs keep rising
RAC put UK diesel at 200.01p a litre and petrol at 174.71p, citing Iran war fallout and ongoing upward pressure on prices.
The UK’s average diesel price has risen above £2 a litre for the first time, the RAC motoring body said, as fuel costs continue to be pushed higher by the fallout from the Iran war, according to BBC Business.
The RAC reported diesel at an average of 200.01p a litre, and said petrol prices are still climbing, reaching 174.71p a litre on average.
BBC Business reports the RAC warned price rises were showing no signs of slowing, describing them as adding more strain on motorists.
The outlet also noted the US has increased pressure on European countries to release diesel stocks, with President Trump threatening a ban on US diesel exports, a move that could tighten supply outside the US including in the UK and EU.
