Police detained about 60 people at Moscow rally tied to Kremlin party

The rally marked the anniversary of the Kremlin’s 1993 crushing of a parliamentary uprising.

Police in Moscow detained about 60 people at a rally on Sunday held by Russia’s Kremlin-friendly Communist Party, the party said, according to the SCMP Economy. The Communist Party said the detentions took place as the rally was ending and that its Moscow branch was working to secure the release of those detained, mostly young people. The rally marked the anniversary of the Kremlin’s 1993 crushing of a parliamentary uprising, and protesters chanted slogans including “Freedom for political prisoners”, “For fair elections”, and “Down with the Tsar”, as reported by the Associated Press via SCMP Economy, with Telegram channel Ostorozhno Novosti cited for the chants.
