Eurozone investor confidence slips in October as expectations fall

The Sentix investor expectations component dropped 5 points to 8.8, helping pull the overall index to 2.7 in October.

Eurozone investor confidence weakened in October, with the Sentix investor confidence index falling to 2.7 from 5.1 in September, and below the 5.0 level expected.

Forexlive reports the drop was driven by investor expectations, which declined by 5 points to 8.8, while the current situation index was unchanged at -3.3.

The softer expectations raise questions about the durability of the recovery, even as the source noted that conditions are not necessarily deteriorating abruptly.

Forexlive also pointed to stronger Eurozone PMI figures released earlier the same day, suggesting a potential disconnect between improving activity data and investor confidence.
