UK composite PMI slips to 52.0 as services growth moderates
The PMI also points to stronger inflation pressure, with services input costs accelerating to the fastest pace since June.
UK data showed weaker growth momentum in September, with the UK composite PMI slipping from 52.5 to 52.0, a three month low, as both manufacturing and services growth moderated, Action Forex reported.
In services, the PMI Services reading eased from 52.5 to 52.1, after a final revision up from the 51.7 flash estimate. Services output expanded for a third consecutive month, but new business rose only marginally, the slowest pace since the current growth sequence began in July.
The report also highlighted softer external demand, with export orders falling for a seventh straight month, and a persistently weak labour backdrop, as services employment declined for the 24th consecutive month, albeit with the latest drop the slowest since October 2025.
Despite the growth slowdown, inflation pressures strengthened. Services input cost inflation accelerated for a second month to the fastest pace since June, driven by higher fuel, oil and gas costs, shipping disruption, and elevated payroll expenses, the outlet added.
