Longer-dated yields rise despite stable 2-year rates

Mortgage News Daily reports 2-year yields were unchanged, while longer-dated yields moved higher by several basis points even as oil fell and economic data met expectations.

Bond markets opened the new week with selling that appeared disconnected from the usual catalysts, according to Mortgage News Daily.

The outlet said 2-year yields were unchanged, but longer-dated yields rose by several basis points compared with Friday afternoon.

Mortgage News Daily pointed to the lack of a clear explanation, noting the move came despite lower oil prices and economic data that were in line with expectations.

It added that without a stronger reason, analysts were left effectively building explanations around a yield move that did not follow the typical pattern.
