Payward expands 24/7 USD settlement for select institutional clients via SGB
The integration connects SGB Net to enable real-time clearing for instant dollar settlement, and it also links SGB to Payward’s Kraken Prime liquidity and markets pricing.
Kraken parent Payward partnered with Singapore Gulf Bank (SGB) to enable 24/7 US dollar settlement for select institutional clients in Asia and the Gulf region, according to a Monday press release reported by Cointelegraph.
Payward said it has integrated SGB Net, the Bahrain-regulated bank’s real-time clearing network, allowing participating clients to settle transactions instantly, and the firms plan to expand the service to more clients and currencies.
Cointelegraph also reports that SGB will access digital asset liquidity through Payward’s prime brokerage service, Kraken Prime, and use Payward’s markets to price customer trades in the coming months.
The article notes that other banks and financial firms are building similar systems to speed up settlement beyond traditional business hours, including a tokenized deposit network planned by The Clearing House with JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Barclays in 2027. It also cites a Japan initiative involving Circle and Nomura for instant foreign exchange settlement from 2027, and a Bank of Korea pilot launched Sept. 21 allowing foreign investors to settle won outside regular hours.
