US Air Force redeploys bombers from UK base after terror plot probe
The bombers used for strikes tied to the Iran conflict at RAF Fairford were flown back to home bases in the United States after the US-led investigation.
The US Air Force has removed its bombers from a US-run military airbase in England, redeploying the aircraft back to their home bases in the United States after an investigation into a planned terror attack at RAF Fairford, according to a Pentagon official cited by the South China Morning Post.
The outlet said Britain linked the incident to Tehran, while Iran denied involvement, as observers had reported B-52 and B-1 bombers operating from RAF Fairford since the opening days of the Iran war.
Aviation watchers also observed multiple B-1 bombers leaving the base on Sunday, as the redeployment took place while US President Donald Trump considered options in the Iran campaign, including potential new strikes.
