650 drones hit Moscow region, authorities report at least two dead
Russian authorities said most of the drones were destroyed by air defences, including 105 intercepted as they approached Moscow.
A massive overnight attack involving 650 drones targeted Russia's Moscow region, killing at least two people, Russian authorities said Tuesday, according to SCMP Economy.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on Telegram that most of the drones were destroyed by air defences at long range, with 105 intercepted as they approached the capital.
Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov said one person was killed in Radumlya and another in Barybino, and authorities reported a drone crashed into the roof of a warehouse belonging to a retail store in Litvinovo, triggering a fire, SCMP Economy said.
SCMP Economy reported that both Ukraine and Russia have stepped up long-range strikes in recent months on civilian and industrial targets, including energy and transport and port infrastructure, as well as ships in the Black Sea.
