Baltimore to create $100M private fund for vacant housing projects
The Greater Baltimore Committee says it will pair the planned $100 million private fund with $1.2 billion in already committed public funding to tackle vacant housing.
The Greater Baltimore Committee plans to launch a Funders’ Consortium in November with Enterprise Community Partners to build a strategic investment framework for Baltimore’s most challenged housing markets, ConnectCRE reports.
The group says the initiative is intended to align capital with a project pipeline and ultimately create a $100 million private fund to support large scale redevelopment, including projects with remaining financing gaps.
ConnectCRE also reports the effort complements $1.2 billion in public funding already committed to address vacant housing in Baltimore.
The consortium is designed to bring together public, private, and philanthropic funders around a growing pipeline of redevelopment activity.
