Casa Serra signs 2,824-square-foot lease at 227 Front Street

The Durst Organization said the 15-year lease carries an asking rent of $100 per square foot and the restaurant is expected to open this winter.

Casa Serra, a sister restaurant to East Village eatery House of Pasta, has signed a 2,824-square-foot lease at the Durst Organization’s 227 Front Street in Lower Manhattan’s South Street Seaport, Commercial Observer reports. The landlord announced the new retail and dining tenant on Tuesday.

The outlet said the lease runs for 15 years and has an asking rent of $100 per square foot. Casa Serra, which means “greenhouse” in Italian, is expected to open this winter.

According to Commercial Observer, Durst president Jody Durst said Historic Front Street has built strong momentum in retail leasing this year with the arrival of Kee’s Chocolates and Mesa Bar before Casa Serra. Durst added that Lower Manhattan’s mix of a growing residential population, tourism, and returning office tenants supports new dining and retail concepts.

Commercial Observer also said Casa Serra will feature dishes from House of Pasta, including mushroom and truffle white lasagna, bucatini alla pistachio, and chicken milanese with fettuccine al burro. Durst was represented in-house by Karen Rose and by KSR’s Zach Nathan, Brandon Berger, and Hunter Lazan.
