China ramps ultra-deep drilling to boost domestic oil output
PetroChina says it has produced more than 26 million tons of oil equivalents from reservoirs drilled about 6,000 meters below the surface in Xinjiang.
China is accelerating ultra-deep oil drilling to increase domestic oil supply amid ongoing global market turmoil, according to OilPrice.
State-owned PetroChina has reported producing more than 26 million tons of oil equivalents from reservoirs dug roughly 6,000 meters below the surface in the Hade-Fuman oilfield in Xinjiang, the outlet said.
OilPrice also links the push to the broader global energy market backdrop, as China seeks additional supply from its deepest formations.
