Ecash Hackday in Berlin demonstrated Fedimint federation across codebases

Bitcoin Magazine highlights work at Ecash Hackday Berlin, where the Fedimint team demonstrated a single federation operating across three independent implementations.

The piece says Cashu’s thesimplekid contributed one of the implementations, and the goal was to reduce the software monoculture risk that critics have raised for wallets and custody approaches.

The guest post argues that relying on the same software can concentrate bugs, and describes the project as built to remove single people and single institutions as points of failure, while showing three separate codebases under one federation.

According to Bitcoin Magazine, developers have started creating a solution to the monoculture issue it previously flagged, after earlier concerns tied similar software deployments to shared vulnerabilities.
