ECB and Finnish central bank chief warn high long-term rates slow growth

EUR/USD was recently up 0.12% near 1.1233 as the remarks landed during the European session.

European Central Bank official and Finnish Central Bank Governor Olli Rehn said high long-term interest rates are contributing to a slowdown in growth, according to FXStreet.

Rehn also noted that elevated rates can reduce the pass-through of energy prices to other prices and to wages, adding that inflation has not been spreading to non-energy prices or wages.

FXStreet said there appeared to be no immediate impact on the euro following the comments, with EUR/USD trading about 0.12% higher near 1.1233 at the time of writing, supported by a correction in the US dollar.
