Kenya confirms first Ebola death after case returns from DR Congo
Kenya screened the man after travel from Kampala to Nairobi on October 3 and has listed 28 contacts, with one test so far positive.
Kenya has confirmed its first-ever Ebola death after a Kenyan man, who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo, died after returning home, the health minister said, according to SCMP Economy.
Health Minister Aden Duale said the man fell ill about a month earlier, was treated in DR Congo, then traveled overland to Kampala before flying to Nairobi on October 3, where he was screened and tested positive for Ebola.
Duale said the man died at around 11:30 the night before the announcement, and that officials listed 28 contacts including family members and healthcare workers.
So far, Duale added that only one test has returned positive, referring to the case discussed at the briefing.
