Markets watch RBI MPC decision as rates could be unchanged
The RBI MPC meeting runs from Oct. 5 to Oct. 7, with the decision expected to directly affect Indian market liquidity.
LiveMint Markets reports that India’s Reserve Bank of India Monetary Policy Committee meeting began Oct. 5, 2026, and will end Oct. 7, with the key rates decision due on Oct. 7.
The outlet says market expectations center on three possible outcomes, including no change, a 25 basis point hike, or a hike larger than 25 bps.
LiveMint Markets notes that the market could rally if the RBI leaves rates unchanged, while it could decline if rates are increased by more than 25 bps.
The piece also cites Avinash Gorakshkar saying investors widely expect a 25 bps hike and that, if it occurs, the market may remain broadly unmoved since it has already priced in that move.
