Solana launches open-source DvP program for atomic institutional settlement
Solana DvP is released under the MIT license and built with input from J.P. Morgan to standardize delivery-versus-payment settlement on-chain.
The Solana Foundation announced an open-source escrow program called Solana DvP, designed to let banks settle trades on Solana with delivery-versus-payment, meaning the asset and payment are exchanged simultaneously.
According to Decrypt, the tool provides financial institutions a standardized API for atomic settlement, aiming to replace bespoke smart contract approaches with a reusable infrastructure standard, and it is released under the permissive MIT license.
Decrypt also said J.P. Morgan provided input into the program, shaping it around institutional settlement practices. The outlet added that Solana DvP is intended to deliver the settlement certainty institutions expect from traditional markets, where delivery-versus-payment typically moves through multi-day chains of clearinghouses and custodians that can tie up capital for a day.
