U.S. trade deficit widens to $105.6 billion, a 13.7% jump

The August shortfall marked a 13.7% increase from July and beat the Dow Jones consensus estimate of $102 billion.

The U.S. trade deficit rose to $105.6 billion, the widest level since just before Trump tariffs were enacted last year, according to CNBC Markets.

The deficit was 13.7% higher than in July and came in ahead of the Dow Jones consensus estimate for $102 billion, CNBC Economy reported.

The latest reading underscores the gap between imports and exports during the period covered by the reported month.
