Upstate New York housing markets stand out with tight inventories
Rochester is reported at 1.1 months of supply and about 21 days to contract, while Syracuse has 1.6 months of supply and a $325,000 median price.
Upstate New York markets including Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo and Binghamton are seeing some of the Northeast’s tightest housing conditions, with fast sales and limited inventory, according to HousingWire.
HousingWire data cited Rochester as the top local market in the region, with 1.1 months of supply and 21 days to contract. Syracuse was noted with 1.6 months of supply and a $325,000 median home price, while Buffalo-Niagara Falls and Binghamton were also described as having tight inventory and relatively fast sales.
The strength is linked to planned local tech development, with HousingWire pointing to Micron’s planned chip plant as a potential source of long term demand growth.
HousingWire also highlighted local brokerage views that the market remains “elevated,” with some homes drawing immediate attention while others can sit if sellers price above what buyers see as reasonable.
