Fidelity says tokenization institutions face an onchain future
Fidelity digital asset strategist Matthew Horne said the push toward onchain has been underway for roughly 18 months, making it difficult to reverse course.
Tokenization is increasingly seen as a structural upgrade for financial institutions as they move toward an onchain future, according to Fidelity’s head of digital asset strategists. Cointelegraph reports that Fidelity’s Matthew Horne said tokenization initiatives can help asset managers access new markets and provide advantages versus traditional investment products.
Horne made the case during a panel discussion at Longitude Singapore on Thursday, saying that for “true institutions” moving toward an onchain future, it is “no going back.” He tied that conclusion to what he described as momentum over the past 18 months, pointing to ongoing institutional efforts to shift their approach toward onchain systems.
Cointelegraph notes that the discussion focused on how tokenization frameworks can support institutional activity in digital assets, as well as how that shift could expand market reach for asset managers.
