Gamers use Claude AI agents to build viral cross-game mods

A GitHub guide cited by Decrypt says merging two games via a passthrough mod can take about 3 to 4 hours, though early results are often rough.

Decrypt reports that social media has been filled with unusual video game mods that mash up games that players would not normally see together, including Mario Kart vehicles in Call of Duty Zombies, Minecraft characters fighting Elden Ring bosses, and Spider-Man swinging through Gotham City as Spider-Man.

The outlet attributes the trend to gamers using Claude AI agents to “vibe code” mods from scratch, describing a workflow where users specify what they want, test outcomes, and feed back results while the AI handles most of the coding.

According to a GitHub guide cited by Decrypt, the mashups can be created using a “passthrough mod” that runs two games simultaneously, with one game hosting the world while the other provides gameplay such as movement and combat.

Decrypt also notes that the guide says merging Elden Ring and Spider-Man took about 3 to 4 hours, while warning that first results are often rough around the edges, and it includes gamer reactions characterizing the modding wave as a notable shift in gaming.
