Amica rolls out no cost Flume leak monitoring for eligible policyholders

Amica Insurance announced an expanded partnership with Flume to offer eligible home policyholders a no cost smart leak detection monitoring service. Under the program, participating Amica customers can enroll to receive a Flume Smart Home Water Monitor that is installed on their home’s existing water meter in minutes without plumbing modifications, according to Coverager.

The offering includes the sensor and three years of leak monitoring service from Flume. Flume’s technology continuously monitors water activity and sends real time alerts through a mobile app when unusual usage is detected.

Amica data shared in the announcement estimates that 1 in 60 policyholders has a non weather water loss each year, with the average claim exceeding $21,000. The system is designed to identify issues ranging from small continuous leaks like running toilets and dripping fixtures to major plumbing failures, Coverager reports.
