Google Maps adds UK forecourt fuel prices via Fuel Finder

The update launches from Thursday and uses Fuel Finder data, with UK forecourts required to post prices within 30 minutes of changes.

Google Maps will begin showing UK fuel prices for petrol and diesel as motorists look for cheaper forecourt options. The feature will appear when users search for forecourts in the app starting Thursday, displaying both locations and pricing using data supplied through the UK government's Fuel Finder scheme, according to BBC Business.

The rollout is tied to UK fuel cost pressures, with BBC Business noting that diesel topped £2 per litre for the first time days earlier. Diesel prices have since fallen by 2p, but the AA said a typical 55 litre tank still costs around £110, while the petrol equivalent comes to around £96.

BBC Business said the pricing update reflects a legal requirement for UK forecourts to upload their prices to Fuel Finder within 30 minutes of changing them. Google Maps is positioned as a broader navigation tool, with Ofcom data cited by BBC Business showing it is used by 77% of Britain's adult population, while Waze already includes similar fuel-price functionality for around 2 million users in the UK.
