Pentagon readies CENTCOM for potential Iran strike operations

The Pentagon has asked US Central Command to complete preparations for major combat operations in Iran, with timing still under review by President Donald Trump.

FXStreet reported that the Pentagon told US Central Command (CENTCOM) several days earlier to conclude preparations for resuming major combat operations in Iran, citing an Axios report.

The report said President Donald Trump had not made a final decision and had not set a specific strike date, while US and Israeli sources indicated strikes could occur before the US midterm elections, with Israeli elections a week earlier potentially also relevant to timing.

FXStreet also said a White House official stated Trump has all options available at any time, alongside Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei saying Iran would deliver its response to US proposals through intermediaries.

The broader regional developments cited in the report included progress with Oman on safe shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, a Saudi-led coalition retaliation against the Houthis involving more than 80 Houthi military sites, and a UKMTO report that a tanker north of Qatar was struck by multiple projectiles, with casualties reported.
