India inflation seen rising to 5.4% in September on oil costs

A Reuters poll of 41 economists put the September forecast range at 4.9% to 5.9%, citing higher energy and food prices.

India’s inflation is estimated to have accelerated to 5.4% in September, up from 4.82% in August, driven by higher oil prices plus rising energy and food costs, according to a Reuters poll of economists published by OilPrice.

The survey covered 41 economists, and their September forecasts ranged from 4.9% to as much as 5.9%.

OilPrice cited energy and food as key contributors to the increase in consumer prices, with oil costs playing a central role.
