Oil prices fall after Trump says no Iran strike before Nov. 3
Trump said discussions with Iran are ongoing and that the US will not attack before the November midterms, a statement that OilPrice says sent crude lower.
Oil prices dropped after a US president said the US will not attack Iran before the November 3 midterm elections, according to OilPrice. The outlet linked the move to the president’s new Truth Social post issued Thursday after noon Eastern.
The president also said that discussions with Iran were continuing, and he claimed oil was flowing through the Hormuz Strait at record levels, while the blockade would remain in force, as described in a Truth Social message carried by FXStreet.
FXStreet added that the statement came amid the market concept of shifting between risk-on and risk-off behavior, terms used to describe investors’ willingness to take on risk during a given period.
