Titan Mining plans graphite processing facility at Anniston Army Depot

The term sheet covers a framework to lease about 97 acres for up to 100 years to upgrade raw graphite into higher-value battery and defense materials.

Titan Mining said its subsidiary, Empire State Mines, and the U.S. Army have executed a term sheet outlining principal commercial terms for a graphite processing facility on Army property, as reported by Mining.com.

Under the framework, Empire State Mines agreed to lease roughly 97 acres at Anniston Army Depot in Alabama for up to 100 years to build a plant that converts raw graphite into higher-value materials used in batteries, defense equipment, and industrial products.

The term sheet also calls for a pathway to establish downstream graphite processing capacity within an existing strategic U.S. defense installation, using existing infrastructure, site access, and utilities planning to support fast-track construction.

Mining.com added that in January, Titan began producing graphite concentrate at its Kilbourne demonstration facility in New York, described as the first U.S. production of the material in decades, with the pilot plant located at the company’s Empire State Mine infrastructure in St. Lawrence County.
